The Monadnock Travel Council was founded in 1990 to provide a comprehensive travel promotion program for the Monadnock Region tourism related businesses. The travel council provides a forum for communication in the Monadnock Region and to represent the region to other regions in New Hampshire, statewide, nationally and internationally.
The Monadnock Region is made up of thirty-nine towns in the southwest corner of the state of New Hampshire. Any business, firm, individual, association, corporation, partnership or estate in the Monadnock Region having an interest in promoting is invited to join the travel council.
The Monadnock Travel Council works with local Chambers of Commerce to improve communications and both educational and marketing activities for tourist related organizations. The travel council works with the Monadnock Lodging Association membership to promote their businesses. The travel council also partners with Granite State Ambassadors, CTM Brochures and works with the State of New Hampshire Division of Travel and tourism in promoting familiarization tours of the region for tour operators, travel agents, Travel and Tourism personnel from other states and travel writers. The Monadnock Travel Council also promotes the Connecticut River Scenic Byway which runs through fifty-three communities, features ten waypoint centers and stretches over 500 miles of roads on both sides of the river in New Hampshire and Vermont.
Information booths promoting the Monadnock Region are set up at tourism related events including trade shows, expos, Chambers of Commerce business After Hours, Cheshire Fair and the Keene Pumpkin Festival. The travel council participates at the Big E's New Hampshire Building to target travelers from throughout the Northeast and Discover New England for international travel agents and tour operators.
