About Monadnock Travel Council
Overview
The Monadnock Travel Council (MTC) was founded in 1990 to provide a comprehensive travel promotion program for the Monadnock Region’s tourism related businesses. The MTC provides a forum for communication in the Monadnock Region, as well as for representing the region to other regions in New Hampshire, statewide, nationally, and internationally.
The Monadnock Region is comprised of thirty-nine towns in the southwest corner of the state of New Hampshire. Any business, firm, individual, association, corporation, partnership, or estate in the Monadnock Region who has an interest in promoting is invited to join the MTC.
The MTC works with local Chambers of Commerce to improve communications and both educational and marketing activities for tourist-related organizations. The MTC partners with Granite State Ambassadors and works with the NH State Division of Travel and Tourism Development (NHDTTD) in promoting familiarization tours of the region for tour operators, travel agents, travel writers, and travel and tourism personnel from other states. The MTC also promotes the Connecticut River Scenic Byway, which runs through fifty-three communities, features ten waypoint centers, and stretches over 500 miles of roads on both sides of the river in New Hampshire and Vermont.
Information booths promoting the Monadnock Region are set up at tourism related events including trade shows, expos, Chambers of Commerce Business After Hours, Cheshire Fair, and pumpkin festivals. The MTC participates at the Big E’s New Hampshire Building to target travelers from throughout the Northeast and Discover New England for international travel agents and tour operators.
The MTC has regularly scheduled meetings and an annual meeting in November of each year.
