Music in Bass Hall: Diana Fanning

Pianist Diana Fanning has toured the world to delighted audiences. She stuns her listeners “with a rich spectrum of subtle colors and tonal nuances revealed with a veritable deep magic.” Come hear Diana’s magic on our wonderful 1928 Steinway!
The evening’s program includes Mozart’s Rondo in A Minor, K. 511, Beethoven’s Sonata in A Major, Op. 101, Chopin’s Barcarolle, Op. 60, selections from Debussy’s Images and Preludes, and A prole do bebê (The Baby’s Family) by Heitor Villa-Lobos.
Diana Fanning has toured as a solo pianist and chamber musician throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. She has performed as a piano soloist at the Schloss Leopoldskron (“Sound of Music” castle) in Salzburg, and in Prague at the invitation of the International Dvorak Society.
Making her home in Vermont, Ms. Fanning is an Affiliated Artist at Middlebury College where she has taught for the past 35 years. Ms. Fanning has performed on numerous occasions as a concerto soloist with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra. Vermont Public Television featured her in a program of works by Scarlatti, Ravel and Chopin. Radio audiences hear her frequently over Vermont Public Radio. She has also performed live on “Morning Pro Musica” WGBH-Boston and on WNYC, New York City. As a chamber musician, Ms. Fanning has been a guest artist with the Takacs, the Jupiter and the Alexander String Quartets, and with ensembles from Point Counterpoint Music Camp, which she owned and directed for ten years with her husband Emory Fanning. Her Duo with the outstanding Dutch cellist Dieuwke Davydov has undertaken eight concert tours of Europe, including recordings for Radio Netherlands.
