Music in Bass Hall presents Apple Hill String Quartet
May 4 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Called “dashing and extraordinary” by The Strad Magazine, the Apple Hill String Quartet has earned praise around the world for its concerts presenting interpretive mastery of traditional repertoire, neglected masterpieces, and music from around the world, as well as world premieres and commissioned pieces. Resident musicians and co-artistic directors at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, Apple Hill String Quartet was the winner of the 2016 CM Acclaim award from Chamber Music America.
The Monadnock Center is delighted to once again host Apple Hill String Quartet for their annual spring show. The evening’s program includes Caroline Shaw Entr’acte, String Quartet by Michael Kropf, and Franz Schubert’s String Quartet in A Minor.
Founded in the early 1970s, Apple Hill is a center of classical music performance and teaching. The Apple Hill String Quartet performs concerts throughout the world and, for three months of the summer, teaches, and coaches chamber music to participants of all ages and levels at the Summer Chamber Music Workshop held each summer at Apple Hill’s 100-acre campus in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire. Participants come from around the world as well as New Hampshire and city neighborhoods in the U.S., such as Dallas, New York City, Providence, and Boston. Central to the mission of Apple Hill, the Playing for Peace program puts musicians with ethnic, cultural, religious, or political differences together in chamber groups, enabling them to transcend national and cultural boundaries while participating in an exceptional educational program.
