Chesterfield Gorge Natural Area

Location: 1823 Route 9, Chesterfield, NH  03443

Category: Hiking, Mountain Biking, Snowshoeing,

This small and impressive hidden gem 13-acre park features a 0.7-mile loop Gorge Trail that meanders through a dramatic rock canyon with 70-foot high walls. The rocky gorge was naturally formed by the rushing waters of the Wilde Brook and probably began with pre-glacier streams. A surrounding forest of hemlock, ash, and oak, and the high rock walls block most of the sunlight creating a cool and damp climate—an ideal refuge from summer heat. The natural area offers a picnic area and restrooms (outhouse/pit toilets). There is no fee. The parking lot doubles as a park-and-ride. Leashed dogs are welcomed
