This uniquely attractive and secluded 1,700-acre sanctuary has abundant wildlife, undisturbed wilderness, several ponds, large hills, and huge boulders deposited by receding glaciers. Multiple hiking trails traverse diverse plant and tree species, including the feature trail, a 2.7-mile and steep 920-foot elevation gain trail to the summit of Bald Mountain’s expansive view of the Monadnock region. Other hiking trails include the Mill Pond Trail, a 0.5-mile easy loop around a dammed pond where beavers and otters are easily seen and the Goodhue Hill Trail, a 1-mile moderate hike above Williard Pond’s southeastern shore, as well as the Tudor Trail, Tamposi Trail, and Spur Trail. The 100-acre Willard Pond is the perfect getaway for a quiet paddle or fishing. Swimming, motorized boating, and camping are not allowed. There is no fee to enter the sanctuary. Dogs on a short leash are welcomed only on the Tamposi and Tudor Trails.
