Known locally as a hidden gem, this 168-acre scenic lake stretching about a mile between Rt 101 and Brown Rd has a forested shoreline and an average depth of 8 feet. Boat access is at the south end of the reservoir off Route 101. NH Department of Environmental Services owns the 30-foot high, 157-foot long Howe Reservoir Dam at the north end of the reservoir off S Road. It is accessible via a short walk along the Eliza Adams Gorge trail/M-S Greenway from a small parking lot on Brown Road. This incredibly scenic area features vast vistas from the dam that usually releases babbling water, except in the fall when the water rushes through the dam as the reservoir is drained to make room for snowmelt and spring run off water.
