Fairly flat in the middle, multiple isolated summits, open exposed ridges, flat woodland sections, dense woodland, lakes and reservoirs, exposed dusty road walks, and quaint little trail town along an exceptionally well blazed 50-mile hiking trail with 10,088 feet elevation gain as it traverses from Mount Monadnock in Jaffrey at its southern terminus to Mount Sunapee in Newbury at its northern terminus. Features along the trail (from south to north) include the summit of Mount Monadnock, Eliza Adams Gorge, the classic New England town commons of Nelson and Washington, the New Hampshire Audubon Society’s Nye Meadow Refuge, Otter Brook and Andorra Forest, the high heath barrens of Pitcher Mountain, Hubbard Hill, and Jackson Hill, Lovewell Mountain, the Sunapee Ridge, Lake Solitude, and the summit of Mount Sunapee.
