Mount Cresson Conservation Area

Walk through diverse woods  and along stone walls to catch a view of Keene Airport between the trees on the 814-ft summit. This is one of the best, little-known, short hikes in the region. The 1.25-mile “Loop Trail,” blazed in blue, leads to the FAA beacon at the summit on this 140-acre preserve. The preserve is part of a larger, contiguous wildlife corridor. The trailhead is relatively close to the Ashuelot Rail Trail crossing at Matthews Road and could be combined with a walk along the Rail Trail.
